Christmas and dance go hand in hand through festive shows, and one of the most beloved of all is the ballet classic The Nutcracker.
It tells the magical Christmas story of a young girl named Clara, who receives a Nutcracker doll – a soldier – from her godfather, Drosselmeyer, on Christmas Eve. As night falls, the Nutcracker comes to life, battles the Mouse King and his army, and transforms into a handsome prince.
Clara is whisked away through the enchanted Land of Snow and into the Land of Sweets, where they are greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy and treated to a dazzling celebration. When Clara awakens, she is left wondering whether it was all just a dream.
Below, you can see photos and video highlights from WWDA’s own beautiful production. It thrilled all the students who performed in it and delighted the families and friends who came to watch. We hope you enjoy looking back at these special moments as much as we do.
And until our next Christmas show, you can also enjoy other wonderful productions of The Nutcracker by the Royal Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, and English National Ballet.
Merry Christmas everyone!
